Magnet Recognition Program

Having the Best at the Bedside

The American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) promotes excellence in nursing and health care globally through credentialing programs. The ANCC’s Magnet Recognition Program® recognizes health care organizations for quality patient care, nursing excellence and innovations in nursing practice. Magnet is the leading source of successful nursing practices and strategies worldwide, and WakeMed is currently working to attain this prestigious designation. We look forward to welcoming the ANCC Magnet ApPRAISErs for a site visit of WakeMed Health & Hospitals facilities, staff and patients October 12-15.

Earning the designation is difficult to attain but well worth the efforts. Magnet program standards help nurses successfully integrate nationally recognized best practices into their work to help ensure patients have the best possible outcomes. WakeMed is committed to improving the health of our community which is a primary reason we have applied for this prestigious designation. Magnet requires proof of nursing innovation, exceptional nurse-directed healthcare outcomes, and evidence that such actions result in improved overall well-being of our community.

WakeMed Health & Hospitals was designated as a Magnet organization in 2015 by the ANCC Magnet Recognition Program®. This prestigious designation recognizes excellence in nursing services.  In October 2020, WakeMed Health & Hospitals is applying for re-designation.
